The Cale song was quite dour and plodding but it seemed to develop some momentum and had some nice Floydian guitar which kept me listening and the long fade out was pretty good.

I love Uptown Top Ranking, a great one hit wonder which I'm tempted to file under "obvious pick" but I would have still voted for it against a lot of what I've heard this round. A was just about good enough to sway me away from it though.

Yeah, that's one Cale-tune I am not fond of.

i was just gonna say essentially the same. the first half of the cale track was a luded slog. it picked up in the second half, including that gweetar. took its time to get that momentum, but it did get it.

everyone on this board knows more reggae than i do, mwhaha. B is my kind of reggae. bouncy with its own brand of style. sweet with the instruments fitting the feel of the track, nuthin overpoweringly noisy or brash or cluttered. this may be an obvious pick to everyone else, but it's new to me. i like it.

Great match up. Both are tunes i can get behind, B because it's fun and poppy, A because it's an interesting and appealing tune despite its length. His voice still bothers me, but...

I liked parts of the Cale but to be honest, it was on a hiding to nothing here. No pop, no style indeed.

B is picking a fucking great song despite its obviousness, which is what I want, just good songs, known or not.

Another damn good match! Actually never heard this Cale before, so it's as new to me as B is. Really liking it, there's something about the off-key Rhodes keyboards and deliberate pace that is oddly reminiscent to latter-day VdGG or Magma's Köhntarkösz, really like it. Also like the swagger to B a lot, I'll be checking out more of it in the future. Gah... Don't know what to choose. A I suppose, only because it seems to be doing worse.
