I'd rather hear him than bloody Neil Young.

While we've had a lot of Neil, true, i still wouldn't go THAT far.

I don't mind A, but seeing Jeff Baxter sitting in a recliner onstage kinda says it all about the Doobies.

I dunno, I guess it's just me and the fact that we're into the shittiest time of year weather-wise here in southern Ontario, but the reggae choices really aren't doing anything for me.
Oh well.

A is bland 70's daytime radio fodder. Instantly forgettable.

B was a serviceable reggae tune.

Lot of BCB snootiness about

A

But not from me, it’s a great record. I’d not heard it until Guilty Pleasures vol 1 so maybe context is everything...

I’ve an un-BCB sweet spot when it comes to certain soft rock AOR so called ‘guilty pleasures’ like A. I’d also state I feel completely unapologetic about it - it’s glorious. B is
much better than a lot of the torpid reggae picks we’ve had. But I’m all over

If it wasn’t for the Doobie Brothers, the whole seventies would have fallen apart.

B

Best version of that song
Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

i'm not sure it's the best reggae track so far, but it's up there. i do indeed dig it with its light, bouncy self and those lil musical flourishes (like the piano) throughout. it made my feet happy.

not so for the doobies pick. i am just not a fan of michael mcdonald in this band. what's more, they played that track a gazillion times a day where i came from, which was just rubbing it in, frankly. didn't kenny loggins co-write it? no. not my doobies. i am very happy other people wanna claim it, though. mwhaha.

Good reggae pick! Don't mind the Doobies but I heard that song too many times.

a - the most appealing thing about the Doobie Brothers was their name. I don't remember what they sounded like. That's a very affected vocal, quite alienating really in what is otherwise a welcoming chug of a song. Nah, the longer it went on, the less I liked it. Undistinguished to a grotesque degree. Gives getting stoned a bad name. Bailed at 2.30. 3 / 10
b - Ooh, more ska than reggae. That's a point in its favour. Pretty undistinguished, too, but does enough 4.5 / 10

A - too cheesy 70's for me.

B - nice reggae

B's a fairly middle-of-the-road pick as far as reggae's gone this cup, but it's enough to win this one.
