So this round features two songs that are built around the phrase "Hello Hooray"!

Whoever picked A seems to be straining towards making some kind of statement. I'd be genuinely curious to know what that is, because I'm at a loss to know what we're meant to be attracted to here. I wanted to approach it with an open mind, but still could only last two minutes.

B isn't really my kind of music and I don't have much to say on it, but it was fine. A good song, well produced etc.

The person who chose A needs to know that I'm easily scared, and when I'm scared, I have to sleep with the light on. B is a bit underwhelming.

Because of its spectral insanity

A ( but don't make me spend the night alone with it )

Once again, Ghédalia Tazartès is one of those names I've been meaning to check out for ages. I think I can just never even vaguely remember how to spell it to search for it. This is a really, really interesting intro, those three different layers working together, with that bold (trad folk? Reminds me of Albanian polyphony despite it being one vocal, or even an Islamic call to prayer) vocal hollering over the top of the shouting and whatever that instrumentation is. That becomes very lovely indeed. The groaning isn't quite as effective, but I'm properly wondering where this one is going. May well be a 9 minute track that deserves the full space. I absolutely need to hear more of this, I'm hoping the office is empty tomorrow so I can start youtubing the crap out of some Tazartes, without having to stop and talk to 'people'. Find of the round, if not the cup, so far.

I can't see how Alice is going to even come close to that. It's the kind of US mainstream rock that just doesn't do anything for me. I just think that rock should sound dynamic, electric guitars should sound genuinely electric, and this is all too stodgy and calm and I just don't know why you would spend any time with it. I get that A is an eclectic choice, but to my mind there's just much more to listen to there, than on something like this.

A is some crazy-ass shit. I even enjoyed some of the chanty parts in the middle, but 9 minutes was a bit of a slog. I find it hard to believe the Fishy one didn't pick it. Is he being coy?

B is far from my favorite Alice, though I'm amused that the other version I know is by Judy Collins! (And it's better, frankly!) But I can't deny that I ultimately enjoyed it more.

Being koi, would be more appropriate, surely?

Nope, genuinely not me. It's definitely one of algroth, Joel, or driftin. My money's on algroth, especially as it appears to be entirely contrary to Moddie's taste.

Sweet jumpin Jehosaphats  Whoever A is has got some stones on him/her, that's for sure, but by crikey that's a serious bit of outlandish noise that's gonna be disrupting my subconscious mind for a good few weeks, i'd say.

B is a strong Coop tune, and more than enough to get my vote.

A is quite amusing in parts, but there is nothing of artistic interest there. Nice to hear the Fraggles on backing vox, though I think they were more an '80s thing.
B is plodding and inspiration-free.

"Best decade for music" my arse.
