That is a singularly unimpressive Jacksons track.
I'm not overly sold on B but it's the better of the two.

I dunno. Neither of them are terribly interesting.
A at least sounds like it has a reason to exist, I suppose.

a - The Jackson 5 have their name on some of the great singles of the late 1960s, but they were already well over the hill when this was released. It's really not much of a song, and that stop-start arrangement would be a bit of a bugger for dancers, I imagine. The youthful exuberance that characterized, say, ABC or I Want You Back, has gone. A bit of a non-event for me, I'm afraid. 4 / 10
b - never heard of this lot, a power pop band that lasted just two and a half years (according to wiki). A bit underwhelmed, although I liked the bit where everything but the percussion dropped out. In fat it was all a lot more pleasing when the vocals dropped out: not that they were bad, it's just they were less interesting than the 'backing', which was enough to win this tie. 5 / 10

Both unfamiliar. I was ready to say A, it's one of the best Jackson 5 songs I've ever heard.
But along came B which was fucking A... a lot of good stuff in this round!

Dancing Machine is a bit more style over substance, with that vocal line dipping the way it does... it kind of sounds a bit overwrought when the rhythm itself is fine.
B was a bit the other way.
