Jeepers I only hope this isn't a portent of the offerings for Round 7.

A because it isn't Weather Fucking Report.

It's a proper stodgy intro from A, probably meant to sound epic or portentous, but coming across as something that Bagpuss would've listened to when the shop shut. Ooh the drums have kicked in nicely, and MY LOVELY HORSE! Neil Hannon appears to have been flown back in time to do the vocals for a prog band. Hmm, it's actually intriguing, it's one of those slightly annoying vocal performances where he's sticking irritatingly to the rhythm, going up and down the scales in time in that smugly annoying way, but also having some moments of real quality inbetween. Cripes, it's picking up pace, that drummer is actually quite impressive, but the fuzzy keyboard bit is dragging it down after the flying flute(?). It's a really strange melange of stodge and fluttering fleetness. If they'd have just kept the good bits, this would've been 7 minutes shorter and quite a lot of fun.

Shpooky intro to B, followed by comedy jazz-club bit. Nice! Second Fast Show reference this round. Groovy. It's an ugly beast so far, but the brief squeaky toy solo was fun. It's not actually developing anywhere as far as I can tell, there's a distinct lack of movement here, got its feet firmly stuck in the mud. Nah, not listening to all of this, it's just not good enough by half.

A
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

A is not bad. I wonder if that band has anything better, because I might be interested.

B is just generic jazz fusion with little to recommend it.

i quite liked A. it had so many lovely bits contained therein i found appealing and maybe even... intimate. could be the wrong word, but i'm stickin with it.

B was good, but it felt more clinical to me. well-played and i liked it, just not as much. didn't have the same charm.

B

Does this round get better?
Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

No way am I listening to all this. A seems noodly but with a semblance of a plan about it. B is widdling around. I’m too tired to do these justice so apologies to B, but it’s

I don't mind B as much as others do here, but A outdoes even the things Weather Report is best at doing when they're on their better days.
