Based on the comments, I expected B to be a lot better and A to be a lot worse. I love you, BCB, but sometimes we just don't get each other at all.

of course!
Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

The Dildo song is smart, very well put-together, well-written and well-played. I just don't like it.
B has atrocious sound quality and what I can make out in the murk seems to be a pretty run-of-the-mill soul-funk blaster, but Edwin gives it his all. Pretty impressive for a man who's reportedly not doing so well these days. I do hope he pulls through.

I, perhaps regrettably, love both of these. The Dan in arguably their most difficult "studio pro" form vs Edwin trying to crossover into the new decade and stay "relevant". A by a 70s whisker.

I'll take B simply because it's Edwin Starr (and A is one of the very few Steely Dan songs I don't care for).

I'm in agreement. The Dan tune was better than I was expecting and had an agreeable jazz groove to it. B was a bit run of the mill.

I’m with my learned friends Fange and TCE here. Both enjoyable but the Dan in second gear beats most bands at full pelt.

A because it's already lost and I don't have to listen to it or yet another funk tune

Two rather boring tracks, each in its own way.

A's a better Steely Dan pick than the one we had a few rounds back, but that's not saying much. As with the previous match, B has some blood running through its veins and it shows all the more when placed in contrast to the wallpaper music that is A.
