I so, so wanted to vote against Mott The Hoople.

But, in truth, I can't because A is a bit of a fucking racket.

I absolutely hated the MTH song in the previous round but this one's fine. I probably like it more than I normally would because of its use in the movie Juno, that is to say it's tolerable.

Dorothy Carter owns though. Destroying a medieval instrument with minimalist repetitions while her unusual voice commands us to make a joyful sound. Yes please.

I love harp on record and I was enjoying this well enough until she started to sing. One for the ' 'oooh it's outsider music and was only released to ten people back then' crowd.

B is bloody obvious, but it is one of the great records of the 70s when all's said and done.

I can just imagine Dorothy Carter sitting back with a beatific smile after recording that take and then tottering off to her cosy kitchen to make a cup of burdock tea or some shit.

I've never heard of Dorothy Carter, though the title and words seem familiar for some reason. Not sure on the voice, but musically it's absolutely superb. Robbie seems to be on a religious crusade with his picks in this cup so far, the second happy-clappy God botherer in a row. Not sure how anyone can call something that elegant "a bit of a fucking racket".

I don't like Mott the Hoople. I should've made that clearer before this cup started, then perhaps people wouldn't have made the mistake of picking their records.

All The Young Dudes is one of the great pop records its era and, therefore, of all time. It's a great, big, sweeping anthemic marvel of a record and one of those times where "anthemic" is absolutely not a pejorative.

I have no idea whether I even like A, but it's done something peculiar to me.

Interesting instrumentation vs. Bowie imitation...??....Can't get past the voice, going with Bowie's backing vocals...vote B

Didn't care for A.

I never realized how BCB popular Ian Hunter is.
