Re: 70s Cup Round 3 Match 3
A was very spiritual and calming. I can imagine a whole album of this would get a bit much but hearing a track in isolation makes quite an impact.
B was good bit of easy on the ear fusion which I enjoyed with some nice thoughtful playing and was also quite calming in a different way.
A good match and very close but I'll go...

I really enjoyed B but, whilst not an expert, have heard more capitating Bulgarian choral work that has held me attention more.
Yes, I am playing B again - nice. Very nice [a cheeky little tub solo too!]

Man, A's just hitting the spot at this time of the day. Quite beautiful and evocative. B's pretty cool too, has some fine playing and all but it's outmatched here.

Bulgarian voices, indeed. Huh. Better suited for the New Age Cup.
B is a killer track, a revered breakbeat and possibly even better than the original

A is supposed to be a bit leftfield, but Bowie already raved about them decades ago. I found one of theirs in thrift, played it once. B I don't have to be in any special mood to enjoy, so that gets my vote.

I thought A was an 80s thing too. It’s good but they surely did better.

I do like fusion and there's much to like about B.
B has me sitting attentively and appreciating the skill. A has me floating out the window and eavesdropping on the people up the block.

I like B a lot but the Bulgarian Voices were part of my seventies.

A - Is a nice track maybe back in the day I would have been wowed by it but Ive heard plenty by now.
B- Jack Wilkins - Red Clay has nice guitar playing. Not really high on my radar. I believe I've seen him before with someone? 1980-81?
Ill give it to B

Ooh, Bulgarian music that isn't Chalga or turbo-folk, thank Christ for that. I've had to suffer far too much of that in my working life. Quite pleasant this, the kind of thing that driftin could've picked given his ultra-orthodox religious leanings, but it didn't have a demented person croaking along. To its detriment. I'm not sure I'd ever listen to an album of this stuff, but it does send chills.
Red Clay sounds like the name of a pimp in a Blaxploitation flick. And this music would be playing in the club where he hustles. It's not for me, and does not bring me any closer to a spiritual dimension. Which is a bad thing today.

Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

A despite its lack of weirdos. B does nothing for me.

Fuck me. Those voices remind me of church. If I’d ever have gone to one.
B. It’s shit of course.

Nope, not feeling these. A is spiritual gubbins - not for me, sorry. And B, despite its rep, very quickly lost its way. Jebus.

Re: 70s Cup Round 3 Match 3
a - I like open-throated gospel and soul, choral harmonies and all kinds of acapella, so why shouldn't I love this? I won't pretend I was all over this at the time (although I believe I saw them on TV once), or that I would spend hours listening to this sort of thing, or even listen to this track again, but right here and right now the sound burst from the speakers in a shower of crystal. It was lovely. You could really hear the room, and at times I caught the scent of frankincense. Really set me up for walking the dog .
Thanks A - 7.5 / 10
b - Ah, that walk has refreshed the palate. This track is nice, reminded me of Django once or twice - fret-wankery is a bit harsh – although, as Moddy suggested, it would probably suit being in the background – oh no I think we have a drum solo. And now the bassist has to have a turn. All very polite. Mm, it was music when all's said and done. No transports of delight from that pure chalice floweth. 4.5 / 10
A treat
