Can't believe I am voting JD instead of da Croz. Glad I gave them both a listen. Life is full of surprises. B

Wow! Now this is a tough one - two superb tracks both in my DNA (obviously one for longer than the other)

I have nearly all combinations and permutations of CSNY and their solo albums are no exception. Crosby's first album is a masterpiece and Laughing is a stunning corker. [Incidentally, there is a great version on the extended Four Way Street album.

The Joy Division track is a gem and masterpiece. Joy Division were one of the truly great post-1974. Second to none.

So which one to vote for- they are both very close to my heart

Today,

B, for the guitar, the part where he skips a couple of notes, I used to think that was genius. Love Laughing and am more likely to actually play it these days..

Not absolutely peak JD possibly as has been said but, to be fair, that’s a high watermark and Unknown Pleasures remains a mighty record. It retains an insistent doomy power. Against it, for me, a track that represents the absolute best of Crosby or CSNY, a trancendently blissful moment of sheer shimmering beauty, dreamy and strangely profound. Ultimately, it’s more for me now than it’s rival.

I'm working my way to a more respectful view on Crosby and this album so heating it now doesn't give me the kind of dismissal I used to give it. But B is something I never disowned in the first place.

I'm on the "they caught lightning in a bottle" team regarding the Crosby LP. there's more going on than the music on many of those tracks and this is one of 'em.

I'm listening to David Crosby, in the full knowledge that I'm not going to vote for him. But despite that, and my ever-ready cynicism, it's not a bad track by any means. I mean, it's not in my wheelhouse - whatever that is, but it's done with a lot more subtlety than the other things that haven't been near near that wheelhouse thing. Quite pretty, in fact.

"Day of the Lords" is unlikely to be anyone's favourite JD track, which I guess is why it was picked as a less-obvious obvious pick. But there's no denying the beauty within the urban gloom of this absolute bastard of misery. Take your Californian sunshine and hemp haze, give me an overdose in a Burnage back-alley any day.

B obviously. It's brilliant but I was pleasantly surprised by A. I always wrote Crosby (and Stills, and Nash) off as the kind of music you'd hear at retirement homes where an over-enthusiastic young person is trying to get the residents to just move a tiny bit to the music.

Crosby is a prime nobber. That track sums up all that Califas sunshine pap. Awful. It’s not Joyless Derision though.
