Christ Bill Withers loves the sound of his own voice doesn't he? (I know, there is an obvious joke there...).

The Heart tune is a bit slight but it features the wonderful vocals of Ann Wilson, which is enough in itself to win this tie.

There are some things I quite enjoy about A, like the acoustic guitar and vocals, but there's something about the synths that cut through it that just seem unnecessary and slightly annoying. B is very much of its time with the spoken-word rap, but Withers' voice is such a wonderful thing, and the tune itself sounds similarly great to my ears.

I suppose we're being offered B as a right-on political statement. I'm simply not moved this by I'm afraid. Bill Withers has done better than this.

I'm voting for A as a song I like and find entertaining. I realise this not the done thing on BCB.

A was not what I was expecting at all. When I was hoping for new discoveries, I really didn't think it would be coming from Heart. Funny Fange mentions the synth, that was one of the things I liked, it gave it a slightly other-worldly vibe. But in fact I loved the whole treatment - the voice, the guitar..it reminded me of "Everybody's Talkin'" (which uses the synth in the same way) which has always been an old favourite.

B was very heartfelt and I think in the right context could be quite moving. Musically it took a hell of a long time to get going though.

In the end fairly easily A

Withers at least had something that Heart didn't - namely, a personality.

But this really is more dull shit and it's starting to feel like people are tossing aside Orwell and Proust to get to the Catherine Cookson.

B, I suppose

Dreamboat Annie is a sweet little number, isn't it? I love those vocal harmonies a lot.

That Bill Withers tune on the other hand never really gets going anywhere.

A for me.

It's funny, songs you Brits call classics, I've never heard. "Dreamboat Annie" received much airplay here; I think it was one of their NA best-sellers. (Puts us at a distinct disadvantage, dunnit?)

This is tough.....A IS a sweet little number, but was never a favourite. The BW does take awhile to get going, but this is a wonderful vocal performance from him. Hmmmmm.....

I like A a lot. B is powerful and intimate. I love that it takes a while to get going. I think it helps draw the listener in.

I normally like Bill Withers a lot, and I'm not very fond of Heart. But this time it's been just the opposite. B is a fine statement that I would like to have heard inside a song. A is a song, and a nice one

Well, I think that's the gospel influence and this sure has gospel type echoes.

This is the Heart song people shoulda brung to this competition.

A finished playing before I had even noticed it was there. Rather bland and vacant.

B is Withers being serious, political and a bit boring; he has far better among both his big hits and deep cuts.

Still, B.

A reminds me why I collect Heart.

B is not really prime Withers, feels like a lecture.
