Another tie with two good ones. That's probably the best Funkadelic cut I know... and probably not the best Eno one. So it's A for me.

I like A
I dislike Eno, creative consultant to U2 and all that shit (prefered them as Christian anthem rock without the pretentions), but did listen to this. Weak vocal. To say the least.

Ugh, why are you guys making me choose...
I guess B because it's been a while since I last listened to it, but both are great.

i am another person who loves both tracks. a great match-up. i am quite happy living with either track on play.
in the toss-up of things, i'm going with eno. there's something indescribable about the way the song appeals to me. er... so i won't try. mwhaha. with all due apologies to a funky, gweetar-laden A.

Re: 70s Cup Round 2 Match 15
I've never found funk to be particularly funky, and this is quite a cumbersome chunky clunky thing, the organ just overwhelms it, and twats everything into a big pile of brown corduroy. The guitar solo is an unnecessary distasteful appendage, too.
Anyone who's known me for any length of time knows that Brian Eno is one of my pet hates. His deadening production on Q: Are We Not Men, the same deadening production sound here, the going to Germany, hanging around with interesting bands, and coming back and presenting their ideas as some kind of self-created genius. Being part of Roxy Music. Being bald. Having legs. All that stuff, pisses me off. Irrational dislikes. None of that's necessary to dislike this song, though the last 15 seconds is good.
Abstain.

Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Funkadelic are my thing, and so is Eno. But only one tune here is the fucking bomb.

I never understood the love for Parliament and Funkadelic but at least it's not willingly annoying like that Brian Eno song. Fuck's sake, enough with that irritating Fozzy Bear gasping noise.

I find that Funkadelic song to be a bit repetitive, and the bridge is the best thing going in the Eno tune, so I dunno...
A, I guess.

I’ve never really been taken with Funkadelic or Parliament although I guess this is better than some of their stuff, which is all airless hard work rather than inspiration. It’s completely knocked into next week by a tremendous Eno track, one I’ve jazzed on for many years - it builds and unfolds and disintegrates brilliantly.

Re: 70s Cup Round 2 Match 15
Nobody's mentioning how out-and-out hilarious the Eno track is, particularly the Ferry imitation at 1:15. Nothing stodgy or self-impressed with this at all to my ears. He's having a ball.
I actually find that Funkadelic album a bit overrated - they'd get funkier and do away with at least some of the fretwankery. I probably prefer the Parliament side, ultimately.
B, anyway.
