I am all for foreign language, but Happy End, well, I'll never find out. Roxy is Roxy, well-respected and smart-assed, but they can turn a hit. A

But quite pleasant doesn't even begin to scratch the surface here.

Going for the less obvious vote for B..

Whoever has picked B thinks they have picked some obscure outsider gem and raised their cool quotient by 800%.

Unfortunately this cheesy and cheerful number actually sounds like it was written and used for a detergent advert.

A is 'Mother of Pearl' by Roxy Music, so it wins.

A Japanese group doing a song that sounds like James Taylor is never going to surpass Roxy Music.

Sometimes listening to Roxy in isolation, rather than in the context of one of their albums, makes you realise how extraordinary they were. The band are on fire on this and the long coda, with Ferry at his epigrammatic best, is magical.
I enjoyed B, but it's nothing revelatory, it's basically a Japanese band trying to sound like The Band.

I wanted to vote for the Japanese cut just because I think Roxy is mad BCB overrated but in this case it's probably justified.

The Japanese song was nice enough but nothing remarkable. I'd much rather listen to YMO.

Nice as it is, there's nothing in B to bring it remotely close to that wonderful Roxy track. I am looking forward to get home to grab my copy and play it.
