Well, A's fairly horrible to my ears so far, all that cock-rock riffing, ugh. But it's stopped, and gone somewhere else more palatable. Doesn't sound anywhere near the same kind of league as something like Virginia Plain though. And it doesn't seem to be doing an awful lot, other than focusing on Ferry's annoyingly quirky vocals. Drags on a bit. I'm not getting it, I don't understand how this is on any kind of pedestal.
Unfortunately, B doesn't seem like it's going to be anywhere near my kind of thing either. Theme tune to Taxi in Japanese. I'll vote for it because it's going to lose against a safe pick for the BCB-anti-interesting-music-brigade.

A is a monster and undoubtedly the better track to my ears (also my fave Roxy Music), but B is new to me and very enjoyable, and it's what these competitions are all about for me.

Please, give me some credit. Somewhere between a shit-load, and a megafuckton of twaddle at least.

Yep, this settles it. I don't belong here. A is being touted as the second coming of Christ but I think it's quite shit whereas B is highly enjoyable. Sorry, I mean it's because I want to look cool and iconoclastic.

Happy End could be singing about how much they want to give me ten million dollars and i'd still vote against its anodyne mediocrity. It's not that it's bad...it's just boring.

B is really very pretty and I’m glad to be introduced to it. But, as has been said before, this is Roxy reaching their apex, a magnificent thing and probably the best single track in the whole competition so far. Hard lines, B.

Re: 70s Cup Round 2 Match 12
B is cute, but ultimately a bit dull. I don't bow at the feet of A like others here, but it is the more interesting track here. Although Jumper K's comment cracked me up (as they often do).

Re: 70s Cup Round 2 Match 12
Sometime's Ferry's almost childish vocal delivery annoys me, and Roxy seems like one of those bands that BCB reflexively votes for in cups, so I was hoping B had something going for it. Unless it has clever lyrics, it does not.

Re: 70s Cup Round 2 Match 12
a - My favourite track from my second-favourite Roxy album, played to death in the 1970s, but hardly at all since. Weirdly, I remember only the slow bit, so the first 90-odd seconds took me somewhat by surprise, but afterwards, I settled back into it. Still entertaining after all these years 6 / 10
b - I really don't know what to say. DF is right, the melody has got something to do with the Taxi theme. It's all right, if inconsequential, and Mother-of Pearl isn't the monster some are suggesting, but there's no way this is going to beat it. 4.5 / 10

Unfortunately this cheesy and cheerful number actually sounds like it was written and used for a detergent advert.
Please, if I had really wanted to pick a cool Japanese detergent advert, instead of a song I heard on relatively popular 21st Century movie Lost In Translation, I'd have picked this, and copped less of a hammering via forfeit:
