Nonsense to the aggressiveness, I've seen more aggression on the my little pony message board......I mean I was told.

Re: 70s Cup Round 2 Match 8
I think A is something of an inspired pick...well perhaps not so inspired because I'm not voting for it. But music can be about a lot things ...it can be about innovation, adventure, artistic daring...all of that, but it can also be about the warm glow of nostalgia and this transports me all the way back. It makes me think of purple acrylic jumpers, chopper bikes and throwing stones on warm, sunny days with the kids from the estate. It may have been a two years too late cynical attempt by Madison Avenue executives to transport the age of Aquarian into the Age of Richard Nixon, but now it seems innocent, guileless and oddly poignant.
It's Proust's Madelaine with extra orange fizz.
But I'm voting for B because it's one of my Lou Reed favourites. Reed has the enviable knack of doing very little and making it seem like the most natural fun in the world. On this he sounds like the laziest man alive, as if the chauffered journey to the recording studio was too strenuous for him. But that's its charm isn't it? It's as carefree and life-affirming as only the old grump could be. A whole load of lo-fi indie bands would try and repeat the trick and fail.

Exactly. I remember this made it onto AM radio. I really loved it at the time. The Lou Reed song does nothing for me. I might've picked something off of Rock and Roll Animal. I think that says a lot more about '70s Lou Reed. Well, a lot of things Reed did during the '70s say something, but this ain't it for me.

Ha! For the sheer gall, a solid vote for A. Don't get me wrong, I like Reed, but let's face it, there's a reason why he had only one chart hit.

Ah, Lou. Demolishing yet another wonderful old Velvets' track by removing everything that's good about it. Reducing the tempo by half is never going to be a good idea. Such a shame.

I saw what the first track was and thought "Fuck, I'm going to have to vote for a Lou Reed song".
Then I played B.
A because it is one sixth of the time, and six times more interesting.

A is a novelty and an annoying one at that. It's either Copehead or Googa.
Lou Reed's solo career was very spotty in the '70s but there were some stellar highs. 'Street Hassle' for example, or 'Walk on the Wild Side'. This one, though, is just bog standard.

A isn't a song and also looks too much like an ad for a Jim Jones style cult...

Although I haven't played it in a long time Coney Island Baby is one my favourite Lou Reed albums.
A would have been more sensible to have picked the New Seekers version.
So B then.

I always hated the New Seekers song so this wasn't going to do anything for me.

Nice try working a jingle in but screw Coke and their shady capitalist ways.

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

I'll go for A for the pleasant little reminder of my childhood, I don't think I've seen this since I was about 4. I'd forgotten this was a Coke add, it never persuaded me to ask my mum to buy me any which she would never have done anyway.

Re: 70s Cup Round 2 Match 8
I like quite a few of the Coke commercial jingles done by many artists, but that one can go and fizz itself.
I love CIB very much, so i'm not surprising myself at all by thinking this track is just fine. And personally, this says a hell of a lot to me about Lou and the '70s.
