Early days, but it supports my view that the 70s were music's greatest decade. Sometimes 70s music could be a bit dull, but it was rarely unmusical in the way so many of the 90s cup selections were.

I had this exact discussion yesterday. For me 75-79 was the greatest five years in terms of variety - there was an astonishing amount of different genres vying for our attention and getting regular exposure too.

I’m enjoying this. Interesting to see ties where pre-punk meets post-punk. Proves that rock made a massive left turn in the second half of the decade.

I dunno, so far I'm not too impressed. Round 1 was disappointing, but I imagine subsequent rounds will be better.

I entirely agree.
There were only about 3 or 4 tracks in total, throughout the round, that I would consider seminally robust.
Roll on round 2 with fingers crossed

Agree with the first part, not so sure about the second...We could see ABBA , The Captain and Tennille and ten more Slade songs the way things look...oh and I'm sure KISS will make an appearance...

It was. We went from soul, to funk coming into it's own, rock in all it's different, myriad forms, reggae's heydey, disco, punk, post-punk, new wave, and the beginning of hip hop. Lots of stuff going on.
Don't fake the funk on a nasty dunk!

Reggae alone had four or five gestations or offshoots of the genre: Roots, DJ culture, Dub, Lovers Rock. . .

We'd better.

I was strongly tempted to go fully in that direction, but I figured everyone else would be posting Curtis Mayfield, Bowie, Lou Reed, post-punk, etc., so I curbed myself and came up with another wishy-washy list that tries to appeal to everyone and will probably appeal to no one.
Where would rock 'n' roll be without feedback?

With the exception of one lesser Lou Reed track and one under the radar Reggae selection, I kept to the Post-Punk / Punk wheelhouse...My last cut was a nasty Betty Davis track, though..Thought Bowie was way too obvious a choice and I let others have Joy Division + Wire...

Nah, most that know me are going to easily pick out the selections which are mine anyway...Except maybe one or two they might think belong to DFish..
