I was hoping for an adrenalised track from the Burritos, kinda like Lazy Day, but this was a bit of snooze, pleasant as it was. And it’s against a corker, that I’ve really enjoyed listening to again just there. I can get the fact that MM has become such a canon Mount Rushmore of a record that it might grate to some but it’s great, really.

Obvious as it is it's mercifully free of The Brown Sound.
Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

Well in my world he overplayed song is the Flying Burrito Brothers one. Its a nice Flying B's track and I still like it but would never put it on although wouldn't take it off.

Venus is a classic track from classic album. However, as much as I've liked it and hate it just as much. Television were a good band and wish I did see back in the day, however with me today this is a mood only song.

A - better to drive too

A is lovely; simple and melodic.

But I do like Television.

Like PB I found A just a little too anaemic.

I don't like Marquee Moon anywhere near as much as most do but it's got more than enough here.

A is a pretty rote acoustic number that doesn't really show me anything new.

B has some originality.

Yeah. Strummy guitars, harmonies, all very nice ... but not enough here.

a - ah, the Burritos and their ode to long-distance driving and/or cocaine and its/their effect on sanity. Even half a century (more or less) ago, I thought this was a bit tame, musically, considering the subject matter. That, ahem, 'mellow' country sound hasn't aged well, has it? Much prefer it when Hillman took over and they rocked out. 4 / 10
b - like all the other hip 28-year-old, I was all over this album when it came out, but I soon tired of it, the angularity and spikes of the sound, like trying to cuddle up to a bag full of spanners, and the dryness of the production. I much preferred Little Johnny Jewel and Adventure, while some of TV's solo work was not bad. That said, this was by a distance my favourite track on the album, but 30-odd years after I last listened to it, I was distinctly less whelmed than then. 4.5 / 10

I listened to A out of courtesy and enjoyed it. But B, while it's not the track I would have chosen, is from what might be my favorite record of the 70s.
