I sense a theme here....two strong opening choices overall. I love the first Specials album but that's not necessarily the track I would have chosen. However, I always liked the Four Seasons track for its understated menace, and I think that's enough to secure my vote. One of my favourites from the slim pop pickings of the mid 70s

Oh, that's a shame - neither of these tracks are my cup of Darjeeling.

I am far from a Specials fan but there are tracks I much prefer to this one.

Frankie Valli and this genre I just don't get

I don't want to do this but:

Abstain

A good opening.
It's always good to hear The Specials ramshackle energy..I always enjoy those spindly guitar solos. It's not the most memorable song they ever wrote, but still enjoyable.
It's really the production and arrangement of B that really lifts it, creating odd moments of tension and drama.

I don't think I've heard that Four Seasons tune before and it wasn't at all what I was expecting based on some of the previous comments. It's pretty good!

(I'm pretty sure I've submitted this song in another cup but I'm darned if I can remember when.)

Nonsense to the aggressiveness, I've seen more aggression on the my little pony message board......I mean I was told.

It was a big northern soul track.

There aren't too many occasions I'd choose Frankie Valli over The Specials, but this is one of them. Quite easily actually.

The Specials - novelty acts are still novelty acts when they're in sharp suits.

I know some people here fly the flag for that Four Seasons song, but this is typical of what happened to a lot of great 60s bands once the next decade rolled around - they lost their playfulness. Having said that, I kind of like it - so it gets my vote

In another tie I'd certainly vote for the Specials. However, The Night is a personal favourite and a classic song.

there are parts i like about the specials (some hornage here, some gweetar there, etc) but the sum total doesn't really work for me.

B is the better track. i've never heard it before. it was a trip to hear em in this kind of mode and it held together.
