Going for things that others will like/love as well as being authentically oneself aren't mutually exclusive, googs. I have NEVER put a song i didn't like in any competition simply for the sake of getting votes. It would be ridiculous, firstly, and a waste of a chance to spread some music i love as well. It's just about try to get the mix right for how you feel.

I think you misunderstand me here. Of course you should always pick songs that you like. But some songs, music, genres may be more to your liking than others. I could quite easily pick twelve punk tracks that I like, but would that really reflect who I am, and where I'm at?

Obviously not because you like more than just punk, and this isn't a punk cup. My point though again is, Googs, picking things that people will vote for because they like it AND being true to yourself don't need to be mutually exclusive. You just need to browse your vast archives more selectively.

There'll be a break of about a week after this last group round i'm guessing for the finalists to pick their songs before the finals matches are posted.

Re: The 70s Cup- WE HAVE OUR FINALISTS!
Congratulations to our five finalists!
Fange
Diamond Dog
Ranking Ted
Griff
Loki (best second place finisher!)
You now will play each other in the Grand Final for which I will need 4 tracks of each of you before Sunday 25/11.
As usual, I will randomly set up the draw for the final. First come, first served, which means if something doubles up, I will notify the second entrant.
The Grand Final will last a week which means voting will finish on Sunday December 2 where the overall winner will be declared!
Thank you very much to all entrants for a terrifically fun and entertaining Cup so far!

Fange has just told me he's ashamed of the shit that got him this far, and he refused to go ahead with this shameful sham. I'll provide a list on his behalf soon.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.
