A isn't much of a song in truth and relies on a couple of musical ideas that are stretched pretty thin. But Hope Sandoval has one of those voices that is captivating, even on fairly dull material like this.
There didn't seem to be much to B beyond pointless experimentation. It didn't do much other than to remind me how attractive silence can sometimes be.

An easy A as I love this song

B is the sound of this entire farcical competition disappearing up its own arse. Thank Christ for that.

Easy win for B.

Cor, Hope Sandoval's voice, it reaches the funny bits, doesn't it? Not much of a song, but that kinda voice doesn't need it.

Main's "Blown" is simply one of my favourite pieces of music, of any time, ever. It's the music I expect when I die, and the angelic choir amp up and unleash their guitars, as I float blissfully towards the light. One of the last bands to really push the boundaries of guitar music, although ultimately they pushed it off a cliff into a well of silence. Here though, they're caught in absolute pristine form. Sonic perfection. Sad fact: this is actually my mobile phone ringtone, too.

Abstain.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

A is still lovely, fine pick. B is ok for 2-3 in the middle, but reminds me of a dentists visit.

a - having spent a fair bit of the opening rounds complaining about female vocals and invoking Hope Sandoval as someone who could have done a better job, now that she has finally turned up, in the last tie of the final, I'm hardly going to turn on her. I didn't hear Mazzy Star until well into this century, but I took to their woozy, mildly stoned vibe immediately, and never heard enough to make them over-familiar. I like this very much 7.5 / 10
b - thought this was pretty nifty, too, in a repetitive build sort of way, once it got into its stride and the guitars and voices came in. And then they stopped, and we got a dolorous foghorn solo for a coda, which kind of detracted a bit. 5.5 / 10

Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

A long time since I've heard A. It's one of those songs I like in passing, but never enough to really get into.
B was pretty good too, a nice droney build to it and one of those productions that marries spikiness and delicacy, but I would have liked a bit more je ne sais quoi; I felt that they got a bit carried away with themselves and missed the deadline for either doing something different or getting out. The ending was nice.

It's probably A but I'm tempted to give B a pity vote. I'll abstain.

B can get fucked.

I nearly chose A as one of my tracks, so that wins.

I thought B was ok; more to it than similar picks, plus the industrial drilly noise reminds me of OMD's Genetic Engineering. But A is lovely.

B reminds me of Loop and consorts and that is a good thing.
