If you guys don't mind me hosting, I could go ahead with the original plan I had and try out the poll and eventual cup.

You're the last person that should do it.

Look, I am well aware of the hostility between you two but I would welcome anyone to take up the reigns and host one of these Cups.
It's not difficult but it takes a few hours to set up/tally weekly and I'm about to head into the busy Christmas period at work and won't have much time off to do this properly.

Give peace a chance, mmmkay?

I had been thinking of a sort of BCB-elite type of Cup with a promotion/relegation-system that could run more frequently.

Yes, sorry if that came across nastily, but Algroth doesn't strike me as an obvious "unifying" candidate right now. But I quite like the cups spaced out and have no great desire to go into another right now anyway, so take my view with a pinch of salt.

That is fair enough. I wouldn't want to start one immediately anyway.
FWIW, it was a bit of a highly charged but interesting convo there. I'm sure that any subsequent Cups won't be as volatile even if Al runs it. In my case, I try to keep it positive and open as much as possible just to keep the people coming back and the votes rolling in.

The pre-Beatles cup might do exactly that.

There was music before The Beatles ??... :D

I get that, no worries. I feel a little awkward myself proposing it, but I had brought up the possibility before our argument and I reckoned I could go along and let the offer stand, especially as I reckon n/e could want a break after hosting one himself. But if others feel similarly I can take a step back too.

I'm happy to try most of the ideas proposed so far - 70s, Electronic, Post-punk, pre-Beatles, Soul, etc.
How about Obsuro? Bizarro sounds interesting; i have my concerns, but have never tried one.

Sadly enough the Bizarro Cups of the past have dropped off the board.
It's essentially the contest of the Worst Songs Ever-thread pitched together, the ultimate Chod Cup.
I always thought they were hilarious.

So the Bizarro Cup is meant to be a cup made of "worst songs ever" and so on? I thought it was just a different term for the "weird cup". :D

Weird does not necessarily equate bad.
Bizarro could be Crazy Frog vs Celine Dion.
Weird could be Sunny O))) vs Cindytalk.

That sounds like two ties in the Bizarro to me.

It could also be two polls in YY.

I get that Ed but, by the same token, it would be a Cup where the main bulk of knowledge on BCB probably still is....so there's every chance there will be more good, obscure music from that decade than probably any other from the 60's onwards.... I may be wrong but it seems bizarre to have every other decade put forward (or having already been done) but not the one that (probably) forms the greater part of BCB's DNA.

We never have one at this time of year anyway, for obvious reasons.

Next up will be the BCB Cup, which usually starts in January or February.

I always thought that would be fun too. I don't know how many Bizarros there were, but there hasn't been one since 2011.
