a - Did Neil Young get any royalties for this? It sounds remarkably like After the Goldrush to me in places. But see what difference a female vocal makes to one of these slow trundles? I'm not claiming great art status but the horn/synth sound of the break was quite pretty, melancholy as a brass band on an autumn afternoon, and I listened all the way through. 5.5 / 10
b - judging by previous comments this is another one of those that was so ubiquitous that people got sick of it or imprinted on it, but I don't remember hearing before. It was all right, if undistinguished, but that intro blew any chance it had of winning. 4.5 / 10
