Oh my, A has whipped out a monster. I even just double-checked my PMs to see whether I chose this, and I'm kicking myself that I didn't. It's one of the most glorious slices of music of the 90s, pretty close to absolute perfection. Yeah, you can argue it's obvious, but not in an "Unfinished Sympathy" or "Common People" way. Tremendous. Best track in the comp so far, certainly better than anything I've picked.

B is very much in the indie-mainstream, despite being more obscure than that. I can't think of who the vocals reminds me of, but it's actually not too bad a track for all it's slightly more elegant take on Ocean Colour Oasis. It's a shame it's against an absolute colossus.

A
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Hmm- despite the superlatives, both frankly bored me a little.

A for being so resolutely un-rock. B gets a little too close to the cliches thereof.

A is twice as long as it needs to be and had a nice string arrangement. That's it.

I'm not madly keen on the competition either but I have to vote B - the vocals in the verse sound like Guy Garvey from Elbow, don;t they?
Nicotine, valium, vicadin, marijuana, ecstasy, and alcohol -

I was hoping to like B well enough to veer away from what I find to be a very obvious pick, but it's shite. A then takes it, which is superb.

Sigur Rós only have one idea and it gets excruciatingly dull over a whole album, but in small doses it's lovely.
That Shack record underwhelmed me a lot, a little too MOR and melodically unimaginative, although I have liked the odd thing I've heard from them/Head. This song is pretty ordinary.

Sigur Ros are a band I've only dipped into and I had the idea they were a bit one trick, but this was really impressive. Stately and beautiful.
I' picked a Head track in the last round and so was expecting to give my support to this, but in truth this is meat and potatoes britpop.

I generally go along with that viewpoint too, they are by and large a one trick pony but they perform that trick quite magnificently. In small doses they can be glorious and this track is proof of that. B sounded just too ordinary in comparison.

Congratulations, A- you made me cry a bit. Hope you're proud of yourself. And whilst B isn't bad at all, A is just magnificent.

Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

It’s definitely Sigur Ros at close to their best and you can see why it’s been so used over the years. Today, give me the big flavours of that post Britpop epic from Shack.
