A is a very predictable pick, but easily outclasses B which was just average ( better when she stopped talking).

I have the album that Fiona Apple track somes from, and i quite like it. But her disaffected vocals really do wear you down very quickly.
A is well nigh peerless, if somewhat predictable.

It would take a phenomenal song to beat A, despite it being a rather obvious BCB cup banker.
B is not a phenomenal song, but it was more interesting than I thought it would be.

Hmm. Ok, I find A a very obvious pick, and truth be told I was never particularly keen on it in the first place. Very coffee table, I don't find the emotion particularly real, and I just don't feel like voting for such an acclaimed track, really.
B is indeed going to get a kicking here, but it's not a bad track, and even though her voice isn't particularly offensive in any way, the track was quite impressive when she wasn't singing.

Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

B is fine, Apple always seemed like an artist with ideas and a bit to say... it's just none of it is really to my taste.
A is the most obvious pick in the whole thing probably, but hard to argue with.

This pretty much, but I also happen to like Fiona's singing. B

An eclecticist like me should probably like the kitchen sink approach of bands like MA. And there are, as I've said about many other things so far, some very attractive elements to it. But there's no vision. No center. Nothing pulling me in to their world view, whatever the hell it is.
B is the kind of thing that was very ill-treated by the likes of us in the 90s. What? She's 19 years old and she doesn't have her shit together yet? Rather someone flailing like her and occasionally landing on something interesting than something more "self-assured" like A that ultimately doesn't engage me.

It's a great tune, great vocal and great arrangement...what more do you need?

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

I actually liked the Fiona Apple track a lot more than I thought I would.
Massive Attack are sort of the ultimate 90's band for Brits I guess.

Re: 90s Cup Round 7 Match 8
A almost deserves a handicap, it’s the 90s Cup equivalent of Waterloo Sunset or I Heard It Through The Grapevine. Undoubtedly great but surely too obvious. So, I was rooting for B, and in truth it was better than I expected, nicely arranged and I like her voice, a problem it appears for some. I was a little swayed. So, I listened again to A, and was instantly given a reality check - predictable, yes; easily better here, yes. Hard tie, B.

A is fab, but i'm not voting for it. Sorry A, drawing the line. In the finals, maybe, but in the rounds i'm happy to vote for B which something i'm not as comfy with but piqued my interest a bit.
