Re: 90s Cup Round 7 Match 7
Both sound like past their best artists on autopilot and are therefore slightly mystifying selections to me.
Iggy does Iggy to a song that goes on too long and isn't very inspired to begin with. The squalling, feral guitar redeems it somewhat.
B comes across as a horlicks and slippers version of 'Bad Moon Rising'.
A I guess.

I really dislike that Iggy track. But it gives you some idea of how much more I hated the Fogerty tune because I have to vote A.

A sounded like Franz Ferdinand with iggy on vocals before the guitar break. Or perhaps, as they post date this, Franz Ferdinand sound like 90-s Iggy, weird. Nice guitar solo.
B is Bad moon rising slightly sped up in a different key, what's up with that?

Hmm, A still has a hint of The Stooges powerful repetition about it, but it's also decided to dress itself up in nu-metal dreads and dyed goatee. It's actually more palatable than I expected, but that's only because I've heard some solo Iggy Pop, and it was wretched. Could do without the formulaic guitar solo.
Much like Neil Young, neither Iggy nor John Fogerty really scream 90s to me. But this sounds is the sort of thing that I could imagine Garth Brooks does, and it is absolute poison to me. Bad Moon tanking.

Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

B because while it is execrable and A is merely crap, I find Iggy soiling his legacy more personally offensive than Fogerty doing likewise.

Re: 90s Cup Round 7 Match 7
I get picking an old artist's 90s stuff if it's inspired or even providing qualities lacking in younger artists of the period, but this is grandad trying to be edgy vs. grandad trying to relive past glories. Neither is particularly believable, but at least A has support from people doing an OK job of helping the old guy out. Fogerty's always been more self-contained, so he has only himself to blame.

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

Re: 90s Cup Round 7 Match 7
Another serendipitous Cup pairing, two 60s relics trying and failing to rekindle old flames. The Iggy, like many of his 80s and 90s solo records, is another fairly aimless attempt at reasserting his PUNK ROCK relevance. It’s not great but at least it’s not something that Shakin’ Stevens would reject as being too cheesy like B.

B is ok, but A still sounds great. The song and the album are a bit overlong, but there is a seed of greatness left in.
