At the time this Bjork album felt like something I should like but actually didn't. I liked the sound of her music, but the songwriting seemed mediocre and I never enjoyed her out of tune caterwauling. This particular track typifies all of that.
B seems too out of my frame of reference to offer much comment, but it was pleasant enough.

I’ve often struggled with Björk for the reasons G describes above but have found I enjoy her music more when she strays further from the mainstream; this late-90s period was where she started doing that and I do like pieces like this which I think provide her with a better scope to do her foghorning.

And I’m not sure you can castigate Björk for being out of tune yet then cast a vote for B, which is amateurish rubbish, badly-played and -sung and lacking any atmosphere, hook or interest.

Predictably, I adore this Bjork track . There's something clever about creating a pretty commercial hook that sweeps you along and yet incorporates some quite unconventional rhythmic skips and patterns. I think she sounds especially good doing ' epic'.

An emphatic

Hate to always bring Robert Wyatt into the discussion (OK, I don't really), but I think it's interesting he and Bjork sang together. They're exact opposites. Bjork has a striking, powerful voice that I find oddly unpleasant, whereas Wyatt's thin weedy voice is greatly expressive. This is easier on the ears than a lot of Bjork I've heard, but it still irritates more than it engages. B is a bit perfunctory, and probably won't linger in my memory for long, but it faded into the background pleasantly enough, something Bjork would never lower herself so far as to do.

Cor, interesting cup-tie alert once more. When it comes to Bjork, I have a lot of respect for her, and a little bit of lust, too. I love her voice, the unexpected swoops and off-kilter vocal patterns. But much like Kate Bush, who I also have respect and lust for, she never seemed to have much in the way of quality material to back the voice up. The strings here are unnecessary, and seem to be trying to make the track both more palatable and bombastic, and without them all you have is a spare Gridlock demo.

Now Sun City Girls, a band who could be both absolutely awe-inspiring, and utterly shambolic and annoying. I saw Sir Richard Bishop live once, and he's an incredible guitarist, and a proper charismatic presence. This track doesn't exactly show off their musicianship in the way that their better known albums such as Torch of the Mystics does, and I'm not really sure what they were going for here. But it's quite pleasant, and sounds less cynical than the Bjork track, even though it's undoubtedly dripping in cynicism.

B is outside of my normal listening expereience, but i like it well enough.

But A is my favourite Bjork track of all and I kind of love bits of Bjork.

The Bjork is probably the first track in this competition so fat that I actually own. I'm only a very casual fan (I have her Greatest Hits) but I do like her a lot in small doses.

B sounded like a pub band in a Mexcian bar, pleasant background sounds with a bottle of cold Sol on a hot humid night but not something I'd ever play at home.

Both are fantastic tracks, and I’m happy to see Sun City Girls make an appearance in the 90s cup. 330,003 Crossdressers From Beyond the Rig Veda is among my top albums from the 1990s in general. So, this was nice to see, but going with A here.

I find it interesting how B remitted most here of Mexican music, yet is actually based on a traditional Moroccan song. It's curious how music from pretty separate regions seem to find some like-minded sound and the likes. Anyhow, B.

Surprised myself, here. That's not the best Sun City track

a - OK, someone's made me listen to Byuk for the first time in a quarter century. At first, oddly, I was reminded of Nico's Marble Index for some reason, but then I realized that this is some god-awful ugly shit I've stepped into - nothing in particular wrong with the arrangement or the sound, but that voice - eeeeeeeewwwwww. It's basically histrionics and honking with a musical background rather than singing, and while I'm quite partial to a bit of that in certain circumstances, none of them pertain here. Lasted two minutes. 0.5 / 10
b - this wasn't much cop either, but it didn't have to be: in fact, I thought it was rubbish, but whatever that plucked string instrument was that came in after the moaning stopped was enough to win it, and I put it out of its misery once the droning dead rose again 1 / 10
