I said my bit on Laughing Stock in the first round but Dr. Octagon isn't exactly an unknown entity either. Still, both are great tracks. I'm feeling B a little more today.

It's a shame Dr Octagon wasn't multi-faceted is all I'll say.

I've never quite warmed to TT to begin with, and find A particularly dreary and overlong.

B isn't exactly cliche-free, but at least holds my interest for 3 minutes longer than the 9-minute song does.

Difficult call as I like both of these. I don't want to vote against Talk Talk just because they've already appeared: you can hardly blame the person picking the tracks for that, and the same has happened with one of my selections too. I do, though, feel I've never warmed to Laughing Stock as much as ...Eden, and I'm also keen to reward good hip-hop as I think it is likely to be underrepresented in this cup. Dr Octagon - like Kool Keith's other personae - isn't top-grade stuff, but there is some fun to be had there nonetheless.

Both are excellent tracks, and I know songs from Laughing Stock aren't the most original picks, but it's hard to vote against late-Talk Talk. A for me.

I just love how you can get two clashing styles in one tie and really like them both.
I am going with the moodmeisters here.

The Talk Talk is a bit too introspective for me . B is ok.

I can see why some people might have a problem with this period of Talk Talk. They can sound so diffident that they're barely there at all, but if you submit to their subtle textures they can provide something of real fragile beauty.
B wasn't bad, but sounded like a lot of other rap to me. I might have liked it more were it not for that dreary violin sample.

B by miles

How many bcbers looked up Spirit of Eden, realized it was from the 80s, and then figured "ah, I'll just pick one from the next record, whatever"

It's a difficult round this one, these are two good tracks, which would have bettered the opposition in many of the other ties. The Talk Talk track isn't as good as the previous selection, it's not as warm and inviting, and it does drag on a bit. However, as good as the Dr Octagon track is, that also goes on too long, and it's only just over three minutes long. I mean, if you've made a good track, and it's only two minutes long, stop the fucker. No need to just do a pointless minute long outro.

Really, really close. But I'm plumping for tedious introspection over Hippocratic hip-hop.
