A, although I too wish it was "Things That Make You Go Hmmm", B was pleasant enough, but I'm not getting a massage here.

Never liked A. B had a smooth wistful ambience but the generic beat that came in half way through ruined it a bit.

I quite like that someone's gone for the big dance pop stomper, even if it's not quite top-notch, its better than trying to find something that wants to sound like the early 70s.
And speaking of which, what type of cunt crowbars Joni Mitchell into a 90s cup?
This type.

Re: 90s Cup Round 1 Match 3
have no memory of hearing (of) either of these artists before, so I'm just going to have to stick with the records.
a - sounds very much like a producer's record, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing as far as I'm concerned. I was completely out of touch with chart music by 1990. Again, this was all right, but a bit Teflon. 4 / 10
b - starts off prettily, and I liked the totally submerged vocals (less so when they emerged a bit more). As others have said, it doesn't really go anywhere (tbf there's no reason for dance music or ambient to wander about or develop, it's not what they're for, but it starts off in a nice place, and I'm happy to spend five minutes there, even though the percussive noises added nothing. 4.5 / 10

Big fan of Yokota, lovely watercolour sketches on brilliant canvas.
Props to A for banging out an anthem though.

B. Quite pleasant.
