Haley Reinhart can stuff her 'post modern jukebox' up her arse.
B feels more gimmicky than it should given YMO were serious electronic pioneers, but it was diverting enough.

I hate Haley Reinhart. She sings Can't Help Falling in Love on a gum commercial on TV. I hate it.

Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

That's entertainment, folks! I despair. A is actually a decent song, but you wouldn't know from having it performed as if they were at a Jerry Lewis Telethon.

B is slight, but cute. In this context, that's plenty.

Oh, the perils of choosing a cover this late in the cup, when it's outed as a novelty by the singer in the intro. Tough luck! It's not too bad a take on the easy listening noveltifying concept, I think the dreariness of the original lends itself to this anyway.

Day Tripper is definitely one of The Beatles' more acceptable tracks, but it's all based around that riff, which doesn't translate to synth well. In fact, I'm strangely ignorant of YMO, I was expecting a much colder, less quirky performance than this, it seems to fall somewhere between Roxy Music and Devo. But it is better than A.

A is probably going to get a pasting here.

And quite rightly because it's a tedious novelty while B is great fun: a quirky but imaginative and respectful take on the song and a very smart pick. That YMO record never made much impression on me but maybe I should give it another go.

B is not using the red phone box for its intended purpose, but still.

I feel an abstain coming on...
a -Never heard the original, but as this isn't a cover, it's a live recording by some modern people I also never heard of (pause to check out opposition, to see if I can save listening to this. Sigh. No, carry on). Oh fuck I can see no redeeming feature in this. No mark
b - the original is one of the less offensive later singles by that band. This mob do nothing other than lay gimmicks all over it, although it briefly got exciting just before the end, enough to get it to 2 / 10

That was horrid. B

I heard a few cover versions of Reinhart and she is very likeable and polite. This one is a touch too much sweetness.
YMO have ravaged the Beatles songbook on various occasions (especially their cover of Tomorrow Never Knows is a blast!) and this one is pretty cool too!
