B is obvious, but A is nothing special as a song or performance. Tough call. I guess I'll pretend I haven't heard B a gazillion times.

I don't have a lot to say about A. I do like Phil Lynott's voice, which has a character and intimacy to it, and that's probably the best thing about the track.
B is undoubtedly the more inventive track, but I've always found its hyperactivity a bit annoying.

I wasn't familiar with the original of A at all, which turned out to be a low-key variation on the old timey blues thing which I don't particularly care for personally. Thin Lizzy are surprisingly respectful of the original here, which is slightly disappointing. I mean, I don't think I'd rave over it if they came at it with guitars blazing, and cock rock over-singing, but y'know, I was expecting them to crack open a barrel of big rock cheese. It's actually not too bad, in a similar not my bag kinda deal. Nice and sparse though.

I almost picked Devo's cover of "Secret Agent Man" for this comp, on the grounds that "Satisfaction" was way too obvious. The Residents' version is the definitive cover in my book, but although I do love this track, I won't be voting for it. It's a bit like picking "Anarchy in the UK" in a punk cup.

Does anything happen in the last two minutes of A? The song stopped with plenty of time left on the video. Did I miss anything? Not a lot happened in the actual song, after all, though I am perhaps being mean as I didn't think it was bad at all, surprisingly lean and careful.
B though is an established "famous cover version" and in this tournament obviousness has often been refreshing, so fair enough.

Like both these! The Percy Mayfield original of A is beautiful, but definitely not BCB's comfort zone.

Apparently a mistake done by whoever uploaded the video. Total time of the song seems to be 4:45.

Anyway B in spite of blah, blah, blah ...

A is great. Such a distinctive Thin Lizzy sound. Even the cheesy guitar sounds right.

B is perhaps an obvious pick but a good one. I like how it’s angular and almost Mancunian but has a great groove at the same time. If it was catfood and I was a cat I would give it 8 out of 10. No, 9.

A is nice but plods; B is bouncy and bright but almost headache-provoking.....meh, since it's getting buried~

a - Missed out on the original at the time, which is a pity, as it would have been right up my street in 1964. Does not sound like a natural fit for TL. Remarkably restrained, showing off Lynott's voice. And then the guitar at two minutes. I could have done without that solo, really. It adds nothing. I mean, all right for its time, but a bit of a waste of chi for me now. Um 5 / 10
b - Well, I was an early adopter with Devo, but I didn't last long. Know this well, though – just sold my first press of the single for £17. Tend to agree with DF that the Residents rather nailed the cover of this song, and time has not been kind to Devo. 4.5 / 10

B is a monster- a great example of a band doing something with a cover. But I found myself drawn into the intimacy of Lynott's vocal and guitar here. Lovely pick!

That confused me as well but I think he means he almost picked B as an entry.
