Re: CC Round 7 Match 7
Ais pretty typical, but B is just way too lugubrious.

Re: CC Round 7 Match 7
Well, it's obvious which way I'm going to go here. This is another decent 60s soul-ish garage rock thing (which sounds a bit like The Sesame Street theme occasionally) and has the cultural caché here. That cover of Hot Chocolate's Emma is one of my all time favourite songs, cover or not. I know it's not going to win this one, but it's the distilled essence of Sisters at this time. Resonant bass, great sounding guitar, and Eldritch sounds like he's going to have a nervous breakdown. This demo is much better than the later polished effort which was the B side to one of the Floodland-era singles.

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

Re: CC Round 7 Match 7
A was a sure loser for me for, in my view, making a song unrecognizable is one of the last things that should be done in a cover version. But then along came B.

Re: CC Round 7 Match 7
A was a crap, amateurish garage song that only vaguely resembled the original. Not that that's always a problem per se, but when the various musicians don't even sound like they're playing together...
B is basically a cheapskate Joy Division knock-off, but it's OK here.

Ha ha! Hot on the heels of a second Nazareth pick, it's the second time round for the comedy goths. It's amusingly bad.

Re: CC Round 7 Match 7
a - well, the original of this has been hard-wired into my heart for more than half a century, and while this is spirited – better than any British beat boom cover of Motown for a start – it's the sort of thing that would have made me nose-bleedingly furious back in the ’60s before funk destroyed soul and R&B disappeared up its own arse. Better not be singing Temps material unless your name is Ruffin, Williams or Kendricks. It's what confirmed Otis Redding as a second-division talent, after all. Not going to give it a mark until I hear what's against it...
b - No fan of the original. Wouldn't turn off the TV if it came on, but might find something different to do for the duration. Have not heard much of the Sisters tbh, and mostly the later stuff with her out of Gun Club. The Joy Division is strong in this version. While I can't hear much I remember of the original, that's a good thing in this case.
Without saying anything about the relative quality of each track, as a cover, B wins by a distance

I judged A by the video clip initially supplied which I think was much more interesting...but OK...
Are the Sisters all of a sudden 'de rigeur' here? Unbelievable.

B , but it's just because of A's lack of originality.
