B
Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

A was a strong selection, though the crappy sound quality perhaps masks its true power.
B is OK but that kind of thing needs to be seriously good to turn me on.

Both great, though Patti has long had the occasional tendency to oversing. She almost pulls back enough here, but not quite enough.

B's wild abandon wins out, though not by much.

I'll almost always take 60s soul over 50s rock n'roll, unless the former is particularly poor. This isn't, it's powerfully arranged and sung. B is fine, but doesn't really speak to me - my loss probably.

A has certainly beefed up the original, and I'm liking the drum line, I wish he'd been given a bit more room to cut it up more. Seems like he's on the verge of an Amen break, but doesn't get there.

B just isn't as good as the original, they can't compete with the energy of Little Richards pipes.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

I just found that there is a dispute about whose original is A. I have heard both and Patti's is better in any case. Something that doesn't happen for B. And all things considered, A is also the song I'd choose to play.

B is fine but I like it to be a bit wilder in the overall sound. Something Patti has no problem with.

so, the 69th match in the cup, and the first to feature two songs/versions I had since new.
a - Well this is a transformative cover, which takes an insipid singer-songwritery song with an I-am-not-worthy, please-step-on-me wilting-woman vibe and turns it into a demand for sexual satisfaction. As this video is taken from a worn single, it loses some of its treble, and the thunder from the drums on the crescendos, but fortunately Patti's voice is in full effect, and that scream at the end is simply beautiful. May not be the best cover this often overlooked girl group put out (you haven't lived until you heard her whoop and scream and indeed 'over-sing' Over the Rainbow), but it'll do 7.5 / 10
b - Oh fuck it's not the single, it's a live version. It's tinny and flaccid, too; the guitarist is not a patch on Cliff Gallup (not that he played on the single) and, perhaps because of the PA, the sound has no body at all. The single might have troubled Patti and the girls, but not this. 4 / 10
