Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

Re: CC Round 6 Match 5
There's something smarmy about the way the Sonic Youth people approach kitsch culture - they don't bring any hidden agendas to it, they just seem to be covering the song mainly to make fun of it. If they brought something to the game, I might be impressed. As it is they're as boring as the yacht-rock slickness I think they're trying to send up.
B doesn't bring anything new to one of the lesser songs from ol' Neil's best era, but John Lord at least gives it some swing.

Sonic Youth have some good things but they do come across as dickheads, don't they? Deep Purple isn't to my taste but is energetic and tuneful enough so B.

The Sonic Youth version is joyless and pointless, while the Deep Purple one is dull and repetitive.
I'll go B because at least they probably had fun making it.

I keep waiting for a point to that Sonic Youth cover, it leaves behind a distinctly unpleasant taste. I mean, really, was Madonna such an evil that needed to be satirized, and so clumsily? Why "Addicted to Love", and why so straight-forward and joylessly? I don't get it.
There's something about this Deep Purple cover that brings to mind Vegas era Elvis. I don't know what, or if that makes sense to anyone else. However, they seem to be enjoying themselves, and with the added benefit of youtube you can skip past the interminable keyboard solo.

Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Re: CC Round 6 Match 5
I expected more from A. I expected less from B (the only thing I knew from that DP album was the horrible River Deep Mountain Hide cover, which is exactly the opposite to the Easybeats reading featured in match 7 this round). Still it doesn't improve my opinion on DP mark1, a pretty average band with a couple of good songs, and this is not one. And for the courage of A shown by picking such a familiar BCB evil as Sonic Youth

I like that mock-boredom in Ciccone Youth's version- slacker before the term was even coined methinks.
B has a few elements extra that I like, Jon Lord for starters...

The Ciccone Youth album was a tribute, not satire. The Youth loved Madge.
oh, and I'm not listening to Deep Fucking Purple, so A it is

Oh good, I know both of these. I dig both covers, too, but I'll go with Purple on this one.
Where would rock 'n' roll be without feedback?
