Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

Stones cover match-up. Nice!

A adds soul horns and features Otis effortlessly getting the hippies eating out of his hand.

B adds a sparkly cape and leather pants and features a primal shout from mom's basement.

A might be Otis Redding but I didn't enjoy it all that much. Too much from the grunty-rush school of funk for me; probably a lot of fun for those present and on the dancefloor, but not for me at home.

B is the Sisters of Mercy's cover of 'Gimme Shelter' (October 1983) and I enjoyed it for two minutes! But then it got a bit boring!

I don't know, A probably as I like the studio version even if they've put the live one in for this.

As much as I love Otis, I've never been that keen on his cover of Satisfaction. They play it too fast and squeeze the life out of the song in my view. It must have been great to see live though.
Eldritch's vocals are a joke really and mean I can pretty much dismiss this track on that alone. It also sounds amateurish and slapdash.

I have never liked Otis version, I think this treatment doesn't suit the song, and this live take is even worse.

B is better although a couple of minutes too long. But still

Despite what you may think of my supposed goth inclinations, I've never really cared that much for The Sisters version of "Gimme Shelter". I don't really care that much for the original, to be honest, but The Sisters never seemed to get either the fun, or the emotion, that they get out of some of their other covers.

However, I find this Otis Redding version of "Satisfaction" a bit Butlins. It just doesn't wear the horns and big-stage cabaret very well.

So I'm going goth, after all. B

A was fab but I kinda liked the slowed-down Shriekback-like mass vocal of B just a bit better!

I've never seen that footage of Otis before, what a treat. It's a bit frantic but the Sisters cover sounds like Oscar the grouch recorded it live from his dustbin.

A - Oh fuck this is rubbish, everything I hate about the direction soul took, and I can't stand that fucking suit. In a futile gesture of defiance about the tidal wave of tortured brass and grunting that Otis's Monterey performance unleashed on the world, 0.5 / 10
Incidentally, the single, rather than this wretched live performance might have stood a chance against weak opposition
B - Nobody on this is wearing his little brother's cast-off lime jacket with pitstains. In fact I don't imagine Mr Eldritch has ever worn a colour in his life. This seems pretty pointless, repetititive and overlong and totally without build, but it only had to turn up to win. 3.5 /10

Pretty much what the Modernist said.

It almost seemed at times to be a gospel delivery. The gospel of I can't get my rocks off.

But I absolutely cannot vote for B. Not in this universe.
