A is, like most of Gilbert's work, interesting but a bit too scattered. He's putting so many ideas out there, some of them worth pursuing as much as he does, some of them not. Shame he didn't live long enough to become a better self-editor. But it gets my vote here because B is scattered too, but a bit too jumpy. Gilbert at least has a more modest approach.

I normally wouldn't enjoy modern prog tracks like A, but it ended up being surprisingly well composed with a nice rock opera styled of melody. Maybe a little overproduced at times, but forgivable. Kevin Gilbert does have a delightful and confident signing voice. He reminds me of younger Paul Buchanan. I also liked aspects of B, but I found it less and less appealing as the went forward. Going with A here.

B meanders aimlessly and hardly ever swings, does it?

I'm very partial to Gilbert's posthumously released magnum opus.

Big Kev sounds like a bad Billy Joel tribute.

Both were new to me. I enjoyed A a lot.

Anything remotely jazz related tends to bore me and have me reaching for the off button but I could see the attraction in B.

i thought both were worthy. but while i thought initially i would go kev's way, i so enjoyed B. it just engaged me more and made me want more percussion instruments. shakeshake.
