A, on which Strummer and Jones join the list of musicians (led by post-1970 Paul McCartney) that should never smoke pot in the studio, is the sound of them losing the plot. You wouldn't call it prog unless you were trying to insult it, which I'm all too happy to do.

B is part sub-Genesis, part sub-Moodies, and maybe a bit of sub-Van Der Graaf, but once again at least it sticks with the program and goes somewhere with a view as boring as it may be. And let's not encourage A any more than necessary (though of course it's far too late to do anything about it now).

wow. that clash track sucked me in to begin with, i wasn't expecting that weirdness and instrumental stuff... but then it wore on me, as it didn't really seem to go in any real movement from that. a brazen pick, though, and i always appreciate that.

B was all over the place, but it did go places i enjoyed. much more depth.
