A was pretty good, I feel it's something I would have liked more in a time I was less burned out on post-rock in general as I am now. Benzaiten is stunning album, though - it's probably not the track I would have gone with myself, but all the same it's great stuff. B for me.

Wow, I really like both of these a lot. And for totally different reasons. I guess A is more...umm...revelatory. A long track that actually holds my interest. One of the best tracks so far. B is an interesting fusion, but I've heard better from him.

A is promising, just because the image reminds me of The Child Readers' Music Heard Far Off. I find that I'll buy a spate of albums purely based on having similar artwork, I had a horse theme going on until I bought a dreadful Besnard Lakes album a few years ago. Not sure this counts as prog so far, it's heading much more to post-rock territory. Although it ramps up the volume and grit as it goes along, it doesn't really seem to head in a particular direction. Bit of a shame.
B is getting fonky. That's not normally a good thing, though there's enough going on to keep my attention. It doesn't seem to be stepping away from the wrong side of cheesy though. The taste barrier has not been broken. Could have done without the usual prog guitar wazzock too.

A reminds me of Godspeed You! Black Emperor. I quite like it although the heavy bit is no way near heavy enough.
B is the kind of thing that Daft Punk would sample and have Pharrell Williams shriek over. Way too much funk for my liking.
A wins.

I like bits of A fine, but this a clear B for me. Top-notch mid '70s fusion sounds.

Re: PP2017 Round 2 Match 5
A developed nicely in a typical post-rock kind of way and held my attention throughout. B was full of things that hit my sweet spot - funky keyboards, flutes, acoustic textures.
On balance B but a close thing.

I hate myself but I actually can't dislike both of these, not enough to explore further cos they are both pretty derivative. Going on the patented Jumper K system of anything with a flute in it can do one, means a clear victory for A.

A is the first track so far in this cup that I've been able to listen to.

Re: PP2017 Round 2 Match 5
i love both of these. kickass/kickarse off-the-path selections. it really is a toss-up for me. A has that building atmoid thing that grabs me and sucks me in. B has that incredible percussivity and funkayyyydom.
i'd be quite happy for either to win.
sigh.
i'll go with A by a frog's hair.

I agree with kath on this one.
Like both tunes and neither are common prog territory.
A gets my vote mostly because of certain sections of B that just don't feel together.

I only know The Source by Kitajima which is a great meditative album so this Huw-jazz funk is a surprise. I do love the noise of A though..

Jazzy fusion stuff doesn't do much for me but B was quite nice - something I could listen to again.
But A is my bag.

Re: PP2017 Round 2 Match 5
Tough call here, because both tracks are great and interesting choices. I believe the atmosphere and overall style of A was more intriguing. Even the opening of the track reminded me of Talk Talk's experimental/post-rock albums, which is never a bad thing at all. B was a really cool and grooving track with some nice funky elements all around. But I have to go with A here.
