Wow, two great one-offs. What this competition is about, really. I have no desire to refuse a vote for either of them right now. The only solution is to wait and play both a few more times before it's time to vote and see which has more staying power.

Both are kinda crazy, and kinda frenetic, but A wins it for the sheer chutzpah of those harmonies.
It's before my time but I've been told, he never came back from Karangahape Road.

Yeah, it's B. That's wild - great guitar tone.

Love A too, but would have loved it more had the falsetto vocal not been the focus.

Not sure if it's the best match so far, but it is close. Fantastic stuff, cheers to both. I could vote for either on any given day. Today it is the beautiful harmonies in

Strictly speaking (and I am strict about this era), the Regents isn't a one-off: they did, after all, have the original hit with Barbara Ann. :)

Super choices, cheers to both of you. I've found it so hard to objectively separate these 2 - they're different but both have a lot of excitement and fun.
Maybe just B.

Two I don't know.
a The Regents records (well, this and Barbara Ann, which is all I really know, like much of what Ernie Maresca was involved in, seemed like ghost covers, even though they were the originals. Leiber and Stoller got the white guys working in a black idiom right, but Ernie didn't, quite. The harmonies with falsetto reminded me very much of the Godlike Genius of Jan & Dean, which is a plus, but 5.5 / 10
b - Way to beat a riff to death. I don't hear what everyone else does. 4 / 10

Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D
