Here we are - the crucial final round, Round 9! The top 3 spots in both groups can change significantly, all depending on how voting goes.
Good luck to all, and enjoy the music. And a big thank you to all you who have been voting.
Round 9 is now up!

Sweet Jesus.
Of all the draws in this final round I really get the strongest track in the Cup against me?

Well, I want to thank fange first for all his efforts, but I've found this ultimately a rather depressing exercise.
Not, I hasten to add, because of the way the voting has gone (although the fact that Ms Thang has cost the Dawg at least three points has been noted in the household ) but because of how old, and out of touch, and irrelevant others' choices and comments have led me to feel. There have been tracks I never heard before, that I liked well enough, but really I'm not interested in 'new discoveries' because I'm done with pushing the frontiers, looking for the next new buzz, while the 'old favourites', while I can still remember the enthusiasm and positive feelings they evoked in the past, just remind me of how much that youthful enthusiasm (for music that is, this isn't a wrist-slitting exercise in general ) is a thing of the past. I could weep - in fact I am seeping a little as I write.
Because of this, I haven't really been able to bring myself to comment much on the last two rounds – in fact I've just flicked through round 9, voting for old faves and ignoring the two ties where neither track is familiar. I know one or two people enjoy reading my comments, because they've said so, and I might get round to it later, but at the moment I just can't raise it. I'm sorry.

Ah, don't worry about it Ray. You've hit a fallow patch in your musical appreciation, that's all. Hopefully it'll just be a short-term thing. Rock on, mate.

At least it will finally put to bed any thoughts that she is one of my aliases or that we are colluding in any way.
Unless of course it is a false flag operation. Paging Jimbo!

I'll give all the finalists at least 5 days to come up with their list of 5 songs, so mid. next week some time.

It was that lose-bye-lose streak that did me in. When fange said he’d been receiving a lot of doubles I decided, for a laugh, to include two Allen Page tracks in my list. Both corkers, and they both won. I tried to stick close to the original rockabilly remit and it was my two least-rocking picks, the Eagles and El Pauling, that lost me points. So, nobody’s fault but mine.
The Further Spanish jury will still be voting of course cause it would be churlish not to.

It's just a shame that the last round at times only attracted as 'many' as 14 votes. It seems always that along the way people drop out or forget to vote. How different some ties could have looked if everyone who voted in round one did also in round 9.
