we are having one of these polar swing kinda things. cuz i think both are pretty groooovy... beautiful, even. you heard me.

the gweetar is particularly sweet in the pentagle track. just wonderful. up against some of my fave skynyrd piano ever. ackkkkk.

maybe the toughest call i've had to make so far. i'm giving it to skynyrd. not becuz i have some kinda 'southern' bias or anything. truly. it's becuz i think tuesday's gone is the more complete song. it is balancing more and moving more and holding together more stuff. that being said, strange, how just by the luck of the draw, these two songs get paired up together. in their way, they may just be more alike than different. (i know what i mean, even if no one else does.) a thousand pardons to A. luvly music here.

Pentangle - not heard that before and I found it quite captivating. The Skynyrd track is quite a piece too...

Oooh decisions, decisions.

Errm

A

Close call though. Both most enjoyable

Pentagle were a great band.

So were Skynyrd.

Tuesday's Gone is one of the best tracks they wrote and indeed one of the greatest rock tracks ever written.

An amazing mellotron sound. Sorry A

I love my olde English folkie stuff and it doesn't come much better than Pentangle but for some reason I have never heard Solomon's Seal so this one is new to me. Nice it is too in typical Pentangle fashion and includes some nice recorder which I'm always partial too except when played by talentless school kids. I think they've done better, and proggier, mind.

Now, I fully expected Pentangle to walk this as that Lynyrd Skynyrd lot are a band I would normally run a mile from but, in the interests of fair play, I sat through all 7 plus minutes of Tuesday's Gone and found to my surprise that I actually rather liked it. I especially loved the chimey guitar sounds and found myself singing along to the chorus. It's a bit Bon Jovi of the 70's for my tastes and it sounded familiar so I've probably heard it before, or just heard Bon Jovi rip it off too many times.

So, one track I knew I'd like before I heard it and one I liked but expected to hate. Bugger.

A score draw so I'll have to ABSTAIN but for quite different reasons to Huw and blue meanie.

Strange Pentangle choice. Perfectly pleasant but rather staid version of "Willie O'Winsbury" from the fag-end of their initial career. And all those previous treasures to choose from. And I too enjoyed the Skynrd track.

Unbelievably I'm voting Southern Rock over English folk. Yee-haa you chaps!

The Pentangle track is lovely but Tuesday's Gone is one of my favourite songs by one of my favourite bands. B wins but props to A.
