A is OK.

Like Mr. Way a lot in the context of Curved Air, but that's because there's a song framework to work within. Left to his own devices, he's all about the playing. And in case I haven't mentioned it enough times in past matches, that's just not enough for me.

Fucking electric violins again.

I didn't even have to listen to A because B has an electric fuckig violin in it.

I'm kidding, I did listen to A but B had a fucking electric violin in it.

Actually, I didn't listen to all of A so it might have had some electric fucking violin in it.

But not as much as fucking B.

A

I'm not big on either of these, I'm afraid. The melodramatic nature of A, with its 'sensitive' strumming and cheesy processed vocals had me thinking back to the likes of Creed or Staind. As Hatz says, there's not much in the way of a composition in B, but I feel there's ultimately a semblance of drive and grit that make it a somewhat more appealing choice - two things I've always found Curved Air to be lacking too, oddly enough. Again a match where I don't find anything that moves me. First part of A was OK but then it went to the wrong place. B had some nice pieces but as a whole I found it disjointed.

Tempted to abstain, but B

NIce song by Way although could do without the drum solo, I like drum solos but don't need it here.

I suppose B does sound a bit like 2 wolves shagging but other than that is total wolf excrement.
I was expecting some crushing detuned metal power chords in A. Imagine my surprise when I was confronted by a horrific mash-up of Genesis and Elbow.

mwhahaha, hugh. one of these days, i'm gonna vibraslap you.

it is amazing, though, being the fan of fiddle that i so truly am, that B sounded more all-over-the-place in an almost shrill and jolty kinda way (even though i did enjoy many of the pieces therein), whereas A was a nice ride for me all the way through. which do i wanna credit the most?

That Riverside song sounded like a fairly standard progressive rock ballad. Aspects of it reminded of Hogarth-era Marillion. It's nothing too offensive, but also offers very little musically. I'm also not impressed with the pointless disorganization found on that Darryl Way's Wolf track. So, I'm actually going with A here.

I didn't go much on Riverside's most recent album which was too ambient for me but that followed on from a terrific run of albums, Out of Myself being one of them - this sort of mature modern day prog with proper melody and soul is right up my street. Nice one.

I like a bit of Way but it's all a bit too frantic for me in comparison.
