A
You see, there are still faint glimmers of civilization left in this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once known as humanity. Indeed that's what we provide in our own modest, humble, insignificant... oh, fuck it.

I like both, but I love the Clock DVA pick. So....after much hemming and hawing. B.

Fuck's sake. More hipster rubbish. Two good songs in each list.

Very nice to see two lists straying far from the canon at the same time. With both you get a sense that there's an actual person with actual personal taste behind them. I would really like to vote for both, but A has more missteps (particularly at the end) and everything on B intrigues me at very least and excites me a few times.

Re: BCB CUP 2017 - Round 1 Match 16
List A:
1. The Bit a Sweet - Is it on, Is it off? -
2. Billy Paul - Am I Black Enough For Ya -
3. Jackie DeShannon - Dream Boy - Nice guitar by Page
4. Culture - Blackstar Liner Must Come -
5. DAF - Kebab Traume - Next!
6. Waylon Jennings - Cedartown, Georgia - Plodding
7. Johnny Burnette and the Rock and Roll Trio Train Kept A Rollin' - The Yardbirds did it best, but this is good.
8. Big Joe Turner - Flip Flop Fly -
9. Misfits - Where Eagles Dare -
10. Massive Attack - Inertia Creeps (State Of Bengal Mix) -
List B:
1. Litto Nebbia - "Vals de mi Hogar" -
2. Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band - "Tropical Hot Dog Night" - Fantastic!
3. Clock DVA - "White Cell" - (mins 9:44 to 14:20 only) - That was the best part? Pitch it.
4. Tuxedomoon - "Desire" - Not into this.
5. Eyeless in Gaza - "Knives Replace Air" - It's a slow burn, but it's worth staying with it.
6. Francoise Hardy - "La Question" -
7. Traffic Sound - "Meshkalina" - Yeah, baby!
8. Strawbs - "The Hangman and Papist" -
9. Fabrizio de André - "Il testamento di Tito" -
10. Geinoh Yamashirogumi - "Reincarnation" - This was not available for me, nor could I find it on Spotify. Wait...found it on dailymotion. Meh
I don't usually go for the more avant garde lists, but here I'll go for B, mainly for Beefheart and Traffic Sound.

Re: BCB CUP 2017 - Round 1 Match 16
Both of these are very daring and personal selections - with the obvious result that both are quite mixed from my point of view.
I will go with B (even if the very first track gives the game away) because I think it goes to more unusual places and keeps me interested even when I don't really like it.

Match 16, A=18 B=13
A is the winner. A if you haven't already done so, please send me your next five tracks for Round 2.
B was Algroth. Sorry man.

These rounds go by way too quickly, I didn't manage to vote for - let alone listen to - match 9 to 16 ... not that it matters much, but your list was one of the finest, algroth.

Damn, algroth's list was the last hope of real quality in this cup.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.
