A
You see, there are still faint glimmers of civilization left in this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once known as humanity. Indeed that's what we provide in our own modest, humble, insignificant... oh, fuck it.

Some interesting stuff on A, but B is more my sort of thing.

Both interesting lists, but nothing really to make me sit up. A has a nice Air choice, I liked the AFX thing, and Arthur Russell is sort of.....interesting...
B is also OK - altho' the Cale is pointless and the Dirtbombs Eno cover is vile.
I miss the days when 'Waterloo Sunset' would feature - and get lots of votes!
Abstain.

This; indeed, this.
I'd say there's nothing not pop on list A. The question is more why are some afraid of music made in the last 30 years?

List A is probably the strongest so far (not including mine or match 16, which I've voted for but not listened to yet). Pity it's got Gene Pitney and especially that pointlessly shit unoriginal Pop Levi thing. Loved the Red Snapper track, which I've not encountered before.
List B is a big bag of not my thing. Why call your band "Rasputin's Stash", you couldn't signal any clearer how unappealing the music was going to be.

It's a more general comment for me, not specific to this list A. I only tend to like stuff made in the last 30 years. Between 1979 and 1994, to be more specific.
For me, being fairly mainstream, a lot of the Cup is slightly more obscure. It isn't, of course, to all you clever, music-minded sniffer dog types. I enjoy the Cup (and other cups) because it makes me listen to stuff I've not heard of, or wouldn't normally listen to, but it's just as good to see some all out fun, hardcore, seriously full-on pop chart big hitter stuff, just for a bit of throwaway pleasure.

Fair enough, perhaps I wasn't fully understanding the context. It just seemed targeted at this list, as though the Aphex Twin or Arthur Russell were scarily avant-garde and unlistenable. I don't mind the pop stuff, but I'd still rather someone dug out a forgotten catchy smash than another Beatles or Bowie track. And I've just seen too many youtube clips which are the inner-label of a 45 from 1965, so I'm getting snarky.

Hey! A has got it going on! Cool list, A.
B is alright but I just like A. It's not mine - the crappy Pop Levi and Julian Cope songs give that away - but I would like it to lose to me in the final.
