A has probably shot themselves in the foot for later rounds with picks 1 and 10, but tracks 2-8 are solid.

I preferred the variety in B in this match.

I quite like Neil Hannon in small doses; twice on one BCB Cup list is overdoing it, really. I don't connect with much of A, though the Mink DeVille was amusing.
B is mixed, but has more variety and a better hit rate.

Well, list A is a perfect antidote to adrenaline, it's a nursing home on a Sunday afternoon. There's more life in my socks. Father Ted was cool though.

List B isn't starting off much brighter, Les McCann isn't a name that screams glamour and excitement, and he doesn't disappoint. By disappointing. You see. Jesus, this is some dreary shit. Is that Beck song Jon Anderson's "I'll Find My Way Home" played at the wrong speed?

I'm starting with an abstain. Ugh. I was looking forward to this cup, too.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Joni Mitchell tries my patience but I enjoyed B much better – pretty good list in fact.

B for me.
I don't mind Gregory Porter-a personal favourite of my wife. But I hate that DC/NG stuff.
I liked the Del Shannon a lot.

But less of the Joni Mitchell next time.
Goodness gracious me.

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

I fucking hate The Divine Comedy, and that track most of all. Sorry, A; it's pretty much impossible for me to get over that, even with some other good picks.

B is good enough.

There is some good stuff in both these lists. I was initially put off A because of the inclusion of Gregory Porter, the BBC's fixation on and adulation of whomm I just don't get. I like the Little Feat and Joni tracks in B, and it's rounded off nicely with De La Soul, but ultimately Mink Deville and Neil Hannon (for the DC, not the Father Ted) won me over.

A
He's a simpleton. 200 years ago they wouldn't have let him milk a cow.
