I wasn't familiar with anything on A - gave each a couple of listens. Not bad but compared to what is on the B (even though I prefer the Galaxie 500 cover of Ceremony) it drew a tough draw for me. That being said I don't know how one separates that Mingus track from the perfect record.

A wouldn't want to be seen as elderly and infirm :)

Some very odd choices for play-ins. You have to admire the nerve of both of these folks, unfortunately both lists are a lot of work. Like the first two on A, couldn't get through the last one. Love the Mingus on B, am OK with a Crimson track but wish it was a better one, and am not part of the New Order cult. Mingus wins it, but I admire A for being so cupicidal so early.

The Iglooghost is superb! I also really like what I'm hearing with the William Tyler track, Basho and Fahey have been mentioned as reminiscent sounds and I agree, but I'm also curious about the very "Son Of 'There's No Place Like Homerton'" midsection. Overall, a very good list, all three are new to me.

B sticks to the familiar and though I enjoy each individual track arguably more than I did A's own, I personally have to punish it for not bringing anything new or surprising to the table. In an attempt to even up the scales, A it is.

Ah. None of this is at all my thing, exc New Order, so B has it.

i think i've made it clear in the past that i am an elderly and infirm crimson freak. and i know that with only three tracks to submit in this play-in game, people wanna throw in a range of things in the space they have. i get that. BUT (yes, it's an ample butt) there is always something i love about a well-built list, however i wanna define that... the way it holds together or moves or shows a real vibe, personality. whatever.

A does it, just with three. i loved that william tyler track, loved it. i loved the way it moved into the next track, which i liked very much indeed. i liked the third track, even though it isn't a track i would normally like.

i am a sucker for lists like that.

I like the Mingus, and the KC is ok. The NO nearly gets a vote for nostalgic reasons.

However, I liked the first couple in A, never heard them before. The igloo thing was shit though.
I agree with DF's comments above. B just seems cynical.

I'm going for A

You see, there are still faint glimmers of civilization left in this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once known as humanity. Indeed that's what we provide in our own modest, humble, insignificant... oh, fuck it.

It comes down to William Tyler (very nice diescovery, thanks!) against an old KC favourite.

I'll go for the unknown: A

Love Kid606. The Tyler was new to me as is the Iglooghost both of which I liked.

Did someone cut and paste the last three Now playing entries for B?

Credit to A for doing something new. The Tyler was a nice listen, though I doubt I'll ever return. I had some Kid606 things back in the day, but alway felt he lacked a bit of identity; he was just skilled at dipping into other people's styles. This one is very Aphex B-side, which is not a bad side. The last song is some kind of horrible D&B kitsch, though, which means that B claims this one, though that's the side of King Crimson I really can't get with.

A is just far too noodly. I quite like the Willam Tyler but a bit too soporific to make the requirred impact here. Not too convinced by B but the MIngus is clearly the stand out track of the tie.
