Well thanks to my opponent whomever they were for putting forward a list that beat mine. You had better go on to win the cup now, or I'll be cross with EVERYONE on BCB.

Smooch!

I agree with fandedango's tally here, and watts has already conceded. So five more songs from B, please!

I knew that that was your list in the first round. You confirmed it with the Chameleons in the second. Sorry I couldn't be positive about it, but:
A. It was against mine.
B. I know you listen to more than this.
C. I think cup lists should have some variety and challenge the listener a bit, much like a good DJ will. Otherwise it's like listening to Pandora or radio that is too formatted....
the Eagles suck.

The Firewater track alone deserved to travel further... may have to take up the cause if I get the chance.

Yeah that track was off their most recent album "International Orange" which is fucking awesome. It's addictive as fuck that song. Worth a listen for sure. And as a track it just worked really well after Ghost Town and as a lead in to Shriekback -- but I would have found a spot for it on my list somewhere anyway -- I wanted to pimp it out to people here. I fully expected it to make the "Your new finds" thread and was disappointed it didn't get more love. Your appreciation of it made my year. :D The "International Orange" album tops my best of 2012 list. Great stuff. I love Tod A. He's a loon, but I like loons.

Yeah thats a cosmically underappreciated act.

It pretty much summed up the Raison d'être of my list too that track. It can NEVER be a funeral when you're in your birthday suit.

They had me with Get off the Cross.... best thing to come out of the ashes of Cop Shoot Cop. I've seen them play to 20 folks and still put on a great show. Not to mention they are getting better with age... the touring bands he's put together the last couple of times have been an absolute blast.

It's funny but they remind me of Screaming Blue Messiahs and Bill Carter even though they lack the ferocious quality Bill had and they sound and look nothing like the SBM's.

Yeah - Get off the Cross is a great album -- I played the shit out of it before a friend borrowed it permanently. Bourbon and Division was my favorite track on it. I think they are the perfect blend of influences for my tastes -- it's like a musical crossroads where it all comes together. I've only seen them live twice if you count cop shoot cop! I wish I'd seen them on the recent tour -- they were in Portland around my birthday and I was supposed to go -- but then Jeff got a gig in Montana and I had no babysitter. I missed out on several shows that I had tixs for that week because he'd said "go nuts".... such is life.

Another great lost act. I don't necessarily see the comparison though. These guys originally just reeked of the lower east side to me and their sound has just ripened with age. Maybe a thread on their behalf is in order... I just found some fantastic live footage from the previous tour (check Facebook)... of course it will sink like a stone.

I agree with the crossroads comment. They are just about everything I love about music wrapped up into a perfect package.
