Neither of these really does much to prove it belongs at this stage of the Cup. I agree with G on the Residents: I hate the term "Emperor's New Clothes" but if ever it was apt...

Poor, isn't it? What's the point in entering if all you'll do is root for your own list and can it the minute the thing falls out. Every year I get a lot out of the Cup, either in new stuff I've never heard of, or being reminded of great nuggets that had fallen off my radar. Most of all, i like seeing what posters put forward and getting an idea of how aligned they are to what I like. 49 voters, eh?

I have to admit I got burnt out out the cup after watching my list climb and climb and then die. I suppose I have abdicated my pledge. I tell myself I just need a break and I'll be back for the finals.

I think we need some kind of cup shake up as apathy seems to have really set in. I'm not sure what form that shake up would take mind.
