A tough call.

B has wonderful stuff, like it a lot, but maybe A by a nose.

I like A more.

What ultimately persuades me is the 'sheer entertainment' quality of a couple of the links, in this case, the Kylie and the KLF. And that they're both tracks of which I'm quite fond does help somewhat....

90% of Kylie on record is admittedly (IMHO) cynical, opportunistic bollocks, but this one I do like - it's also a really enjoyable and memorable track (although I was rather sorry to see it unfairly pitted against that Gentle Giant out-take about Wittgenstein's greasy hair in list B. 'Kites' is pretty good, mind you. I might have put a live version of that in one of my own further lists. Had I progressed further than Round One. But that's your karma, pop kids. Just deal with it, alright?) Anyway, Bruce, or Brucette, as the case may be, kudos to you for including the Oz pop pixie in your list, cos we don't like stuck-up stickybeaks here in the John Mc Department of Philosophy!

Anyway, I know that we're confined in the real world by whatever YouTube links are available, but tell me, who wouldn't honestly prefer a dull, out of focus clumsily cropped static monochrome pic of an old album cover over a colourful and expensive tailor made video with a cast of lots and a bit of your actual exegesis and diegesis? Why, the first has to be a clear winner every time, as anyone in their right mind must surely admit. So it's with a big sigh that I must admit to being in the sad minority who would (deludedly enough) prefer the latter.

Anyway I've gotta align myself against those Kylie haters.

I don't think I'd vote for either of these in the next round, but if I have to b

B has an interesting mix of things...hip hop, country, hard psych, videos with women running their fingers through flowers. I'm not sure how much I like of it though. A has a few tunes I love among some good pop.

It's just an unpretentious set of good songs and whilst it might not be the most ambitious, it has the courage to look to non-BCB approved artists and makes a good job of selecting the right songs. B is more to my taste in some respects, but is looking all too BCB to me tonight.

Yeah, I agree with this. A it is.

I was swayed by B but further inspection showed it to be a bit front loaded, and I still can't see the point of that particular Emmylou Harris choice. B is running out of steam. A doesn't entirely convince but I still love that Marvin pick and while it may be a dealbreaker for some The Hold Steady get my vote

I'm right off Emmylou Harris at the moment and anyway that's a good Rose Royce pick by
