Good - we're at the stage where you're less likely to raise your eyebrows at the lists. Overall, that is - there are still a few here that I'm not too keen on.

A has great Kinks, Funkadelic, Led Zep, MGMT, Gainsbourg - and even the Costello choice doesn't make me want to set fire to his tie.

B has the first Fall song I think I've seen so far in the Cup! and it's a corker. Also splendid Move, Neil, Wolf, CCR, and Big Star songs.

It's very close but I think A is just a little more my flavour, despite the appalling Judy Collins.

B, just - though they're both interesting lists.

I like the way B jumps around, but there are some misses among a largely strong selection. I prefer the earthier vibe of A. Another assured five (although the latin track was a bit ordinary) maintains its strengths.

Tough all for me. I've still got sour grapes from A kicking my ass in the first round. I find it a pretty obvious shade of faux-eclectic (Wanda Jackson, Gainsbourg, the same ol Swamp Dogg and Linda Lynell tracks, a few non-English language thugs, sigh). The o e e ception is thealways-welcome inclusion of The Five Stairsteps i- though they have better and more interesting tracks. Did I mention sour grapes on my part?

The problem is B doesn't make it a slam dunk. The good thing about it is that it is far less concerned with seeming eclectic. It goes with a strategy of simply picking pretty good tracks by mostly great artists. The bad news is that there are few absolute killers, and a few puzzles in the mix.

So...a by a whisker.

A has some missteps, but it's still one of the better lists left.

B's highs are higher but its lows are lower. I still can't forgive using Judy rather than Joni and the Zep and Costello picks look a bit "meat and potatoes" although James and Bobby Purify might be the best thing here. On balance

A difficult one. Both have some gems but I suppose A just has too much crapola that I would have to ignore.

big time

why choose Howlin' Wolf when you have KoKo Taylor?
Why choose D'Angelo (as much as I love him) when you have Roberta Flack?
I don't get it.

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D
