Re: BCB Cup 2011 Round 4 Tie 2
More adventurous lists this time. They both look quite exciting at first glance.
A has the gorgeous Ronettes' 'Do I Love You' - my fave Phil Spector production - and that classic Dictators' song (which could sell a list on its own to me, almost). There's the glorious 'Johanna', the best Small Faces' song, a cracker from T Rex, and Slint and Mighty Baby choices which come from deeper but hold their own with anything else there.
The MC5 song is as limp as a wet paper bag and the Lovin' Spoonful and Stevie songs are hardly cause for celebrations.
B is still going with this 'black only' thing and altho' there are good things there, it can fuck off. There's no place for such gimmickry, not at this stage, anyway.

I agree in principle with JC, the Cup's latter stages are no place for gimmickry. The problem is, I can't say I'm buying all of A... It's Just Begun and the other goodies like Avenue, I'm A Man, Buick Mackane and Afterglow will carry it this time.

Ah, shit. The two best lists remaining in the competition drawn against each other.
B
All allegations of gimmickry aside, the songs speak for themselves, and there are just more songs I like in B. Sorry, other list.

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

Re: BCB Cup 2011 Round 4 Tie 2
A gets less and less exciting each round, unfortunately- that Beach Boys song was unreleased for a reason- so I guess I'll go B though the token thing is getting wearying. Thin Lizzy and Love still count as WBWG.

Re: BCB Cup 2011 Round 4 Tie 2
A. I've voted for B before because it's a good list, but I'd rather good music be the primary definition of a list, not sociology. Also, A is better.
