I was wondering when Wichita Lineman would show up....

Two dry and dusty lists. A at least still has a little bit of life left in it.

A, despite the very poor Malcolm McLaren and Grace Jones picks.

These are easily my two favorite remaining lists. While I really like A, though, I just can't deny the pure awesomeness of B, especially with its inclusion of Lee Dorsey and Nas in its most recent five. Sorry A - were you against anyone else remaining, you would've gotten my vote.

Double Dutch---good addition. Bad spelling of his name though.
Malcolm McLaren? Looks right to me.
Anyway, A - though once again it was close (49 - 47). Sorry, Poor Old Soul!

Re: BCB CUP 2010: QF 4
Yeah, bummer of a match-up. This is Holland vs Brazil in the quarter-finals, a 4-3 thriller that'll be the last puff of excitement before all the remaining teams play timidly and go to pens for the rest of the tournament.
However, it's an easy choice for me.
A has been a really fun and eccentric presence throughout the Cup. I like it, quite a lot. The fact that it's picking 'Double Dutch' and 'Demolition Man' at this late stage shows some balls. I reckon it may even go through, which wouldn't be too bad...
... except, for me, it would. And that's not much to do with A really. It's just that it isn't... B. Oh B. You've carried me every step of the way, through the soul, through the sick hip-hop, through the underrated and brilliant Highway 61 Revisited track, through the girl groups, even via the noisier rock picks (which is where we're furthest away from one another). And now you've picked an absolute monster off Illmatic (better than 'NY State of Mind'? Maybe not, but 'Halftime' is definitely in contention and at least it's not the Nas song that it's OK to like), suave Lee Dorsey and one of my all time, drop-everything favourites in 'Blue Moon' (a demonstration in how to plunder the canon if ever there was one). My only beef is that the King Tubby looks mildly like a token selection. This is a list that picks what I like, that departs from the rock/indie path in a dozen different directions, without seeming token.
But it's a very minor quibble. B, I love you. And you're going to go out.

Incidentally, nice to see links again. Maybe it's no coincidence that most of my favourite lists, which have pretty much all been dumped, had links attached.

As close as these two are it comes down to missteps. B does not have Devendra Banhart.

I was wavering and about to be swayed by saying disbelievingly "Glen Campbell?", but then I actually listened to the song.

Probably my two favourite lists left, although both are patchy.
